Research work

Plant Systematics and Evolution (special for Monocots) and Conservative genetics. The two projects in my research program make substantial use of plant systematics, cytotaxonomy and molecular systematics , and biodiversity and conservative biology. Equipment and software for these advanced techniques are upgraded periodically. One key project deals with systematics and evolution of Smilacaceae in the world. The current emphasis is on phylogeny of the family based on morphology, chromosomes and molecular characters, including ITS, rpl 16 and matk etc. The other project addresses conservative genetics of the rare or endangered plants in China , as Ginkgo, Changium, Croomia, Dysosma and Scrophularia etc. based on population genetics and molecular markers as cpDNA haplotype, enzyme, ISSR, SSR and AFLP etc.
